Mike Rotunda, also known by his ring names “Irwin R. Schyster” (IRS) and “Michael Wallstreet,” is a former professional wrestler hailing from the United States.
Born on March 30, 1958, in St. Petersburg, Florida, Rotunda had a successful career in the world of wrestling, leaving a lasting impact on the industry.
Rotunda began his wrestling journey in the early 1980s and initially competed in various regional promotions. He gained recognition for his technical skills and versatility inside the ring.
In 1984, he joined the World Wrestling Federation (now known as WWE) and adopted the persona of Mike Rotundo, later changing the spelling to Mike Rotunda.
Rotunda found considerable success as a tag team wrestler during his time in WWE. Alongside his partner Barry Windham, he formed The U.S. Express and won the WWF Tag Team Championship in 1985.
They held the titles for several months, showcasing their teamwork and athleticism. Rotunda’s partnership with Windham earned him a place in wrestling history.
In the late 1980s, Rotunda underwent a character transformation and adopted the persona of Irwin R. Schyster (IRS). As IRS, he portrayed a tax collector and used his gimmick to generate significant heat from the audience.
Dressed in a suit, carrying a briefcase, and demanding tax payments from fans, Rotunda embraced his new character with gusto.
IRS became a memorable villainous figure in WWE, engaging in feuds with popular wrestlers of the time. He showcased his in-ring skills and greatly utilized his character’s persona.
IRS remained an active competitor in WWE until 1995, leaving a lasting impact on the fans and becoming one of the most recognizable villains of his era.
