Veteran actress, Grace Omaboe known widely as Maame Dokono has taken a swipe at her contemporaries in the movie industry, accusing them of being the cause of their current predicaments. According to her, most of these veteran actors and actresses lived a care-free life, failing to invest the money they were making during the pinnacle of the profession It is common knowledge that most of Ghana’s old movie stars have in recent times been in the news suffering from one ailment or the other and soliciting public support to survive. These are mostly household names that so much impacted the movie industry during their hay days But the unpleasant truth remains that most of them did not invest and therefore die as paupers. Maame Dokono for some time now has been on the case of her contemporaries accusing them of squandering the fortunes they made in their acting careers, mostly to women, alcohol and other pleasures. Speaking to an Accra based local television station, Maame Dokono was full of praise for young Kumawood actors and actresses including Agya Koo and Lil win for choosing to invest the money they are making in the industry According to her, she was able to establish other businesses to support her acting career, adding that she was also able to take care of her children through school and so is reaping the benefits She added that she is not in an awkward situation as most of her colleagues because of the investments she made while the movie industry was booming in her time.   Source:MyNewsGh.com
